Painted with watercolor I make by hand from natural & non toxic pigments.
On 100% cotton watercolor paper (300 gsm).
The 12’’ x 18’’ wtarcolors are painted on a 13’’ x 19’’ paper.
The 18’ x 27’’ watercolors are painted on a 19’’ x 28’’ paper.
(The excess paper around the image will be covered by the mat once framed).
Each painting is signed on the back.

Painted with gouache I make by hand from non-toxic, natural pigments
Gouache on paper: Painted on watercolor paper (300 gsm). The image is 10’’ x 8’’ on a paper of 12’’ x 9’’. (The white border around the image will be covered by the mat once framed).
Gouache on canvas: coton canvas on gallery type wood stretcher. Painted sides so the artwork can be hung without extra framing if desired. Sealed with a non-toxic, VOC free varnish.
Each painting is signed on the back.

Acrylic paint on cotton canvas. *Painted before I adopted environmentally friendly materials, but reusing what already exists first is also an eco-counscious choice!

(option1) Sold on its ‘‘gallery style’’ canvas stretcher frame (those wooden bars onto which the canvas is stretched and fixed). Only if picked up at my studio in Quebec. Shipping an artwork this size requires a custom-made wooden box rendering shipping too expensive and much less environmentally friendly.
(option 2) Sold without its canvas stretcher frame, rolled up on a cardboard tube and placed in a shipping box. This shipping method lowers shipping cost and green house gazes emissions. The work will need to be placed on a stretcher frame by your local framer or I can give you some advice on how to do it yourself.
This kind of artwork can be hung without a frame, by placing it on a gallery-type canvas stretcher frame (stretcher frame of 1.5 " deep).

I select the best archival quality materials for your artworks so it will last over the years.
I also favor eco-friendly materials for all new purchases:
non-toxic,
biodegradable,
its production has a lower environmental impact,
and/or
locally sourced whenever possible to reduce green house gases emissions from transportation.
I hand make all my watercolor and gouache paints from natural and non-toxic pigments and natural binders.

Framing
Artowrks painted on canvas
I use a non-toxic, VOC free varnish to seal them. Painted on a gallery type stretcher.
Theses gouaches and watercolors can therfore be hung without extra framing.
Artworks painted on paper
Gouache and watercolor paintings on paper aren’t varnished: it is therefore recommended to frame them behind glass with a mat and archival quality materials for optimal conservation.
Eco tip
Chose a frame made of from responsibly harvested wood such as FSC certified ones and/or local wood.
Use real glass over Plexiglass.
Buy a locally produced frame: you will support a local business while lowering green house gases emissions linked to shipping.

Why can't artworks on paper be delivered framed?
To reduce the ecological impact of delivery. A frame with glass is fragile and requires a lot of packaging to reduce the risk of breakage during delivery (a risks which remains higher). This increases the resources required, the size of the package and the CO2 emissions associated with its delivery.

Taxes: in Quebec (Canada), entrepreneurs must declare all income, but only register for QST and GST (provincial and federal taxes) when their gross quarterly or annual income first reaches 30,000$. This is why sales taxes are not showing on your order.
